A constant rollercoaster of emotion and adventure await Olivia and Joshua as they embark on a journey to the rebel city of Torv, and what was once home, Genesis.

Excerpt
My feet crunched on weeds as I pushed my way through the waist-high grasses towards the river. It was rare anyone ventured outside of Shadow. In most cases leaving wasn't permitted. Was I breaking the rules by being here? I didn't know the answer to that question and hoped I wouldn't find out. Bending down, my body hid among the grasses as I dipped my bare feet into the water. I shivered and grimaced, scrunching my nose from the sensation. As quick as my feet had dipped into the icy cold water, I pulled them out. With a slight splash I heard a rustling in the distance.
“Who's there?” My voice echoed as I stood. I wasn't afraid. Shadow was my home. Although I'd ventured from the town, it wasn't far. I glanced in the direction of Shadow and could barely make out the community. Perhaps I'd traveled further than I thought.
The grass shifted in the distance and I felt my heart skip a beat. My eyes widened as I quickly took off for town. I ran as fast as my legs would take me. Gasping for breath, I refused to slow down. Whether it was an animal or an outlaw, I wasn't waiting around to find out. Swiftly, I headed for Shadow. My knees lifted higher off the ground with each bare step I took. I didn't turn around but I could hear the pounding of weight against grass. Whoever or whatever was behind me wasn't small or light and they were gaining on me. I didn't have time to scream as I felt a large body coming down hard on top of me. My face slammed into the grass, scratching my cheek as I gasped for breath. “Help!” The words barely left my lips as my head lolled up from the ground; someone ripped at my hair and slammed me fast back into the grass. I bit my bottom lip, tasting dirt as I jammed my elbow behind me. I had to think fast. I'd spent months in Shadow training and now was the time to use it!
“Having fun yet?” the voice echoed into my ear. The whispered breath made me shudder. I didn't recognize the voice. Was I supposed to? I couldn't turn my head around, no matter how hard I tried.

REVIEW

Alert The Media hold the press because I have breaking news: RUTH SILVER JUST BLEW ME AWAY.  Moirani the second installment in the Aberrant series was everything I expected/ not expected and so much more.
This book is action packed with twist, turns and truths unveiling at every corner.
Olivia and Joshua are back and they have grown from book one not only as characters but their abilities has also grown from strength to strength. The uprising is still planned, but when it all begins its nothing like what they expected.
Are Joshua and Olivia strong enough to make it through and lead the rebellion?
Will they ever get their HEA?
all those questions will be answered in the third book set to be released in December so not too long to wait.
I am keeping this one short because I don't want to give too much away especially for those that has not read book one. Andi If you have not read book  Aberrant you are missing out a great story.
Ruth has a way with words that captivates and leaves you wanting more. Everything writing, flow,  character development and balance of the secondary characters are absolutely perfect.
I normally DO NOT read anything YA but Ruth is my exception!!!!!
Love her and love this series.

An Interview with the Author

Whats a typical working day for you like?
I wake up, exercise, check emails and then stop by Facebook and Twitter. If the house is quiet and I have something to write or edit, then I’ll get on top of it. Once I start writing or editing, I have a hard time stopping. Lunch usually gets pushed back and I tend to eat quickly. Then I get back to writing or editing until dinner time. At that point, I usually close up the file for the night and anything I haven’t done for my book blog, gets attention.
What inspired you to write 'Aberrant' and how difficult was it for you to pick a title for both books?
The title part was probably the easiest. I knew what I wanted both Aberrant & Moirai to mean and so I used a thesaurus to find the right words. For example, I wanted the title for Aberrant to mean unique, different, straying from the normal. Aberrant fit and was a great word to use. I also looked and at the time there wasn’t another novel with the same title. For Moirai, I wanted the title to be along the lines of destiny. I did a little research when I saw the word Moirai and learned exactly what it meant. Then I incorporated it into the book.
As for being inspired to write Aberrant, I wanted to write a YA dystopian novel. I’d read quite a few of them at the time and was still reading them during and after Aberrant was published. I wanted a book that would captivate readers, something I would want to read, without a love triangle. I wanted there to be a hint of romance without it being the main focus of the story. Yet, in some ways it is the main focus but both males and females can enjoy reading the novel.
And while we're on the topic, do you pick the title first and then develop the characters and story or is it the other way round?
The title was one of the final steps of the book. I developed the characters and the story first. It was the fact Olivia was unique and different, that the title fit the book.
What kind of question did you always want to be asked in an interview or just in general?
Do you like interacting with your readers?
I absolutely love it! I appreciate the time they take to read and leave a review. Sometimes I’ll chat with them on Twitter, Facebook or via e-mail. The readers that really love the series tend to join the Street Team, which is awesome!
Do you set yourself a daily writing goal? Say a chapter a day, or how do you handle it?
No. Sometimes when I’m writing, I could write several chapters. Other days I don’t write anything at all. Often it comes in days of writing or days of not writing. When I’m editing, sometimes I find I can write anything. Especially if one book is first person POV (Aberrant series) and the other book is third person POV (Orenda).
After finishing Aberrant, did you find it difficult to start on Moirai?
I took a little while to start on Moirai but I knew from the beginning it would be a trilogy. As a new author, publishers and agents are very particular about word count, especially in the YA genre. To tell the full story that I wanted to, I recognized that Aberrant would develop over three books. Since I had the story vaguely outlined and knew what I wanted to write, it wasn’t hard to start on Moirai.
We really liked the cover for Aberrant, but the Moirai cover completely blew us out of the water! Is Photography a subject that interests you, too?
Yes, I used to be a professional photographer and owned my own studio (Ruth Silver Photography) but the paperback covers, I used stock photos to create. I didn’t want the cover to be of a model that I knew. There has to be a certain amount of separation between your characters and people you know.
The original Aberrant cover I didn’t do a whole lot extra with other than adding font. When I joined Patchwork Press, Erica Crouch redid all the covers for the paperback versions and they look fantastic!
Where you a big fan of books and reading when you were younger? Or was that something that developed over time?
I wasn’t a big reader until I was about ten. At that point I got into the Goosebumps series and The Babysitter’s Club. Once I reached my teens, I started reading fan fiction more often than novels. I didn’t read any YA novels until I was out of college. I’m not sure if the genre wasn’t really that developed when I was a teenager or no one ever showed me what was out there.
What is next for you? Will there be a third in the Aberrant series?
Isaura, is the third and final book in the Aberrant series. It’s with the editor right now and will be released December 2013.
