The Last Husband (Forever Love #2) by JS Cooper

Description
Lucky wanted a guy to be her last boyfriend but she never counted on love not being enough.
Lucky Morgan fantasized about the hot guy from her diner for months. And when he offered her a dream job, she jumped at the chance to get to know him better.
Zane Beaumont was skeptical about love and guarded his heart. Even though he was falling for Lucky, he was still scared to fully let go. So he makes a decision that may ruin their once chance at happiness.
Both of their lives are turned upside down by some unexpected news and Lucky has to decide, once and for all, if Zane is the guy she wants to spend her forever with.

Excerpt
. “Lucky, I know you want me, but we’re in public.” He grinned at me as we lay on our backs.
“You wish.” I shook my head and tried to sit up. He pulled me back down towards him and kissed me hard and I melted against him, enjoying the warm sweetness of his lips on mine.
He smiled as he pulled away from me and licked my lips. “You taste like honey.”
“It’s maple syrup.”
“Well, it’s good.” He leaned towards me again and ran his tongue over my bottom lip slowly. I stared into his eyes, and we sat there for a moment, just gazing at each other.
“Excuse me, excuse me! You guys can’t be on the bed doing that.” I looked up, embarrassed, and saw an elderly lady staring at us with a shocked expression. “You two need to get up off the bed. This is a reputable business, not a brothel.” She glared at us and I jumped up off of the bed quickly. Zane stood up slowly and smiled at the lady.
“Sorry, ma’am, my whore and I got a little carried away.”
“Zane!” I gasped and noticed the lady’s face turn red. She turned away from us mumbling something about how rude this generation was.
I turned on him and hissed, “Zane, how could you say that?”  My face was still flushing a deep red and I wanted to sink into the ground.
“You know you’re not my whore, but what did that busybody expect after saying we thought this was a brothel?” He grinned and grabbed my hand. “Now let’s get these sheets and get out of here. I don’t think I’m made for Ikea.”

REVIEW

The last husband of picks up right where the lost boyfriend ended; With Zane's POV.
During the last boyfriend I really wanted to know what was going through his head, he seemed so mysterious and dangerous. The book opening with his POV defiantly started it on a high for me.
I have very few complaints so I will get those out the way.
"Oh Zane" I lost count of how many time  Lucky said that, by 50% I just could not help but cringe whenever she said that.
On a positive note Zane did have a lot of moment where it was well deserving of a dreamy eye, an a "aww"

"I want to be your provider" ~Zane

Zane and Lucky's relationship will be out to the intimate test when secrets and lies are uncover, Rejection and hurt turns to nightly terrors.
This review is spoiler free so what I can say is limited, but just let me tell you the twist is a very good one. J.S leaves little clues from the start of the book so by the end when all the pieces of the jig saw finally fit together  you will go "ohh so that's why, a that was said or written like that" etc. etc.
This book is all about Zane we get to see all of him the good bad indifferent and ugly. The Zane we met in The last Boyfriend is not the same man in this book we see him Vulnerable.

He is scared shitless of his deep feelings for Lucky but he fights the urge to rebel against live, in wants of being a better man and what lucky needs.

"I stare at lucky in amazement. It seemed the universe was trying to tell me that this beautiful women was made for me" ~Zane

They have a lot in common and their mutual love and devotion is very apparent  but Zane sill does not truly believe he is good enough for her. His as amendment issues has left him a broke un-trusting man.

"My heart hurts at her words. I wanted to be her prince charming. I wanted to be the one to sweep her off her feet into the sunset and live happily ever after. I just think think I was ever that man. I was the huntsman not the prince"~Zane

"I didn't want her to have my whole heart because if she left me I would be crushed"
This is why I have the book 5 stars the pain, hurt and fear just leaps off the page. Everything the characters feel you also experience and feel for them.
The sub context, was also something that held my attention its a topic I have never really taught about before.

"She was the women that made me believe in love and broken down my walls". ~Zane

Overall I really enjoy this book there were so many moments when I laugh out loud; last husband is just as funny as last boyfriend. It's well written with a good flow. I love lucky and Zane story and as far as squeals go this is a great one it had it a little of everything thrown in J.S. Cooper did a brilliant job concluding this this, I am one very happy readier after reading The Last Boyfriend
