Six weeks until Christmas. I jab Ray, my sparring partner, in the eye. He staggers back a little before he shakes it off. I wonder if I could get Sophie to come with me to the party?

I send two fast fists into Ray’s ribcage. In two days we’ll all be flying to Denver for the rest of the week. I’ll be meeting Charlie for the first time. I block Ray’s grasp as he comes in and tries to take me to the floor. I land a kick in his well-padded sternum.

I know Denver. Sophie said she’d never been there before. I could set up an impromptu lunch or dinner with her and Charlie … that wouldn’t look like I was hitting on her. Right? Maybe I can even get Sophie to be my—hell, I don’t know what to call it … wingman? Co-pilot? Any term but “date”—for one of the sponsor events. There will be two of them over the weekend.

Ray gets around me and attempts a chokehold. I break free and throw him over my shoulder. His back slams against the mat. I hear the breath that’s forced from his lungs.

The team always sets me up with one or two women for the photo shoots, then for the promo galas, which usually consist of a benefit auction or fundraising dinner. Sophie might find it fun. If we go as friends, she won’t feel threatened, right? And she could learn more about the ins and outs of that side of the business. Oh, hell yeah! That sounds perfect!

Just then Sophie walks by the ring. Her face is freshly scrubbed and free of makeup. She possesses a natural beauty that’s breathtaking. Deep brown chestnut waves of hair cascade over the shoulders of her crisp, white blouse. She glances at me from under her lashes. It’s so subtle, if I wasn’t looking at her precisely at this moment I wouldn’t have noticed.

But I do.

Her cheeks blush with a surge of pink when our eyes meet.

I feel Ray’s legs wrap around mine as I hear his body slam to the mat and sense helplessly that he’s taking me down with him. Shit! Immediately, my hip and shoulder connects with the tough canvas.

Sophie keeps walking by, pretending as if she didn’t see anything, but I see the curve of her rose petal lips as they form a smile.

I read this BOOK as a beta reader and have spend countless hours help Allie pick out titles and such for the start of this SPIN off series from the True North books. So it kind of feels like a little piece of me was just released to the world as well.

Allie did a wonderfull job with linking these series... If you pay close attention there are several referalls to the series, not counting the return of the characters, especially in the first few chapters.

Whilst the True North books have a more romantic vibe to it with a splash of angst, this new series is kind of it's rawer more sinfully sexy counterpart. Dare is so intense in more ways than one and I can also not mention enough how funny it was at times. There are just not enough words to describe all the emotions that where portrayed in this book.

Josh: sinfully sexy, MMA fighter, fire fighter, alpha male... He has had a very difficult past but the man has got himself a heart of GOLD and I loved him every step of the way.

Sophie and Charlie (Daughter): Mommy bear and has had an incredibly difficult past, a past that we only get to know near the end of the book and sure will surprise you and no I do not mean all that stuff that is going on with that dushbag husband of hers.

She and Josh SHARE an instant connection one that you know is going to be epic. We follow their journey through the next couple of weeks as they only grow closer. But will the secrets they both have and not to forget Sophie so called husband destroy their relationship before it has even properly begun?

Josh, Sophie and Charlie are our main protagonists, our True North characters will come say hi a new band of brothers will be introduced... The brothers of ink and steel and you can take that name quite literally ;) I'm very curious to get to know the other men, who are all have their own unique PERSONALITY.

Great job on the start of what I know will be an exceptional series!
