Some secrets aren’t meant to stay buried …
Eight years

forever left without so much as a goodbye, he took her ability to love with
him.
After
family tragedy brings Evan North back into her life, the secrets of her past
have never felt as close as they do now. When the same scandal that tore them
apart rears its ugly head, will history be doomed to repeat itself?

Excerpt
“I miss him.”
“I know.”
“He knew everything already, you know? It was easy to be
myself around him.” I reach out and take my drink.
“But that’s not all, is it?” Jess challenges before sipping
her wine. “The fact he knows what happened to you in school isn’t the only
reason you miss him, is it?” She lowers her chin, levelling me with her gaze.
“No.”
I don’t even know how to describe it, that soulful
connection you get with another. When I’m around him, nothing else bothers me.
My world narrows when he’s in view, and I like how it feels to have those
blinders on. It’s as though I’m focussing on the only things that matter: the
people close to me.
“What if I misread him?” I ask. “What if he wasn’t that into
me?”
“How many nights did he come over to see you at Kath’s?”
“Most of them.”
“How many times did he message you?”
“Every day.”
Jess glares, her lips curling up on one side. “Yeah, he
wasn’t into you at all.”
Lauren's Review
***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review - Lauren / Scandalous Book Blog***
Oh my god! This book is packed full of emotions. It had me right from the start and held me all the way to the last page. Tough love is a story of physical and mental abuse, estranged siblings, guilt and bitterness but at the same time surrounded by love old and new, forgiveness, passion and bonds that can never be broken. This book made me feel that even in the darkest of times, light and happiness will always fine a way to shine through.
Amelia is a high flying independent woman, perfect job, perfect house, perfect life right? Not even close. Amelia’s teenage years were full of bullying and abuse that she couldn’t find away out of. That was until she met Evan who she gave her heart to at the age of 16. One day Evan just left town with no explanation, no contact at all. Could Amelia’s life become any worse! Well yes it could, with her life in danger from her abuser she turns to her family who take the wrong side causing Amelia to take her life back and start again on her own. But 8 years later a family tragedy forces them back together revealing secrets that have devastating effects. Amelia’s life is changed beyond recognition in the blink of an eye and her life will never be the same again.
Evan left this town a boy but he definitely returned a man! Thrown back into Amelia’s life unexpectedly he finds himself still in love with her. But Amelia wont let him back in that easy he might as well have ripped out her heart and stood on it 8 years ago as far as she is concerned! Will he find away to win her over or have his past actions pushed her away forever.
In my opinion Max Henry has written a fantastic story packed full of emotions. I can’t remember the last time I cried so much whilst reading a book but loving it at the same time. Amelia and Evan are the perfect characters, you love them both but they annoy the hell out of you at different times for different reasons.
Tough love really pulls at the heart strings and I loved it. I can’t wait to read my next Max Henry book.

Author Bio
Born and bred in Canterbury, New Zealand, Max now resides
with her family in beautiful and sunny Queensland, Australia.
Life with two young children can be hectic at times, and
although she may not write as often as she would like, Max wouldn’t change a
thing.
In her down time, Max can be found at her local gym,
brain-storming through a session with the weights. If not, she’s probably out
drooling over one of many classic cars on show that she wishes she owned.
