REVIEW~LETTERS HOME By Rebecca Brooke
Life is all about the jigsaw, right? Finding the different puzzle pieces to complete your very own picture. A career you love, a house to make a home, a lover to complete you, and keep you warm at night.
Danielle Renton has a life, and she loves it. A recent law school graduate, she’d been floored when her boyfriend, Nate Lewis, enlisted during their sophomore year of college. At the time, she’d been concerned with what that meant for them as a couple, but in the years that followed, they’d learned to adapt to the logistics of an army relationship.
But when life throws her a curveball, how will she cope? Can she pick up the pieces and make her picture beautiful again? Or does she realize that, sometimes, the pieces can be too broken to fit back together…
An unexpected joy.
When I read the synopsis for this book I was not too sure if I wanted to read, I taught it was going to be another one of "them ones where the widow falls for the best friend" Then I was speaking to an Author friend of mine and she mentioned this book and said how good it was. I told her my opinion based on the blurb she laughed and said she gets why I would think of the book in that way. So she gifted me a copy and I read almost immediately and let me tell you; NOTHING like I expected absolutely nothing. I was extremely happy to be wrong about this book.
Letters Home is a beautiful tale of Love, Lost, Friendship, Second Chances, and finding unconditional love when you least expect it. Its realistic and written in a way that puts you within the pages so you feel every single thing the characters are and experience all the emotions along with them.
Danielle had the prefect life, her career is on the right track her love life could not be better. Her high school sweetheart has proposed but their celebration is short lived when Nate gets his deployment orders (Nate's deployment comes as no surprise he has being a solider for a few years so they are very much used to his profession)
This deployment however would mean the couple would have to cancel their upcoming nuptials. Nate has waited long enough to make Danielle his wife and has no intentions of waiting any longer so they elope opting to get married by Nate's captain and having a family reception once he returns from Deployment.
Things from here gets heartbreaking and down right sad. Danielle is left in need of her friends and family like never before. Her friends and brother are wonderful, understanding and when Danielle is down in the dumps they find a way to keep her spirits up.
An unexpected person shows up on Danielle's door step (***get ready to SWOON ladies***) This person will teach her the meaning of life and living again. Their presence in her life will make her question everything she taught she knew about life and herself.
This book was incredibly emotional and beautifully written with every work was meaning full and packed with intent that hit its target. The emotions were spot on and had me crying my eyes out. A great job by Rebecca Brooke 4.5 Stars from Natasha (Scandalous Book Blog)
My heart beats for you and you alone. I know there will be hard times, times when you’re away and I wonder how I’m going to do it, but I promise to always let my love for you help me through those times—knowing that while I’m here missing you, you’re somewhere missing me.
The kiss seemed to last forever, but it came to a point where I had to end it for fear of never wanting to leave. The tears in her eyes as I stood up to walk to the door broke something inside of me, something that wouldn’t be fixed until she was back in my arms again.
His tongue parted my lips and slid into the warmth of my mouth.
Testing.
Tasting.
Teasing.
My feet shuffled backwards until the back of my legs hit the bed but Nate didn’t stop moving. It wasn’t until he’d pushed me down onto the bed and covered his body with mine, did he lift his lips.
