Her mom disabled, her dad long gone, and a single mom raising a rambunctious little boy, that’s Tessie’s world. Her childhood aspirations to be a nurse long since disappeared after a college spring fling both blessed and burdened her with a baby boy. Dropping out of school, she returns to her hometown and begins to settle in. Getting the only job she could as a bartender she spends her days caring for her son and nights serving the Hellions Motorcycle Club and their affiliates. Tired of waiting for Rex to grow up, she’s faced with the bane existence of her life until one night changes everything. In the darkest hour of her merciless ride through life, she’s saved by a quiet, laid back Hellion. Andy ‘Shooter’ Jenkins has always been around. Too wrapped in Rex she has never really noticed him before. He has never been loud or known to have the girls hanging all over him. He is a mystery. This book is my favorite so far,, I got lost in Tessie story from the minute I started reading it. She amazed me with what she has gone through. Life has been cruel to her, her words " Mercy is not my friend" and she has been dealt a rough start !!
Tessie works at the bar where the Hellions drink. Tessie and Rex have a relationship where she has been holding out hope that he will grow up and be ready to settle down, Rex on the other hand has no other intention that to keep her stringing along until she cant take it no more. When the Desert Ghosts are in town on business and start drinking at the pub she has more than her hands full, she is dealing with being a single parent, running a pub and looking after her ill mother. She loves her job but is struggling to keep afloat.
Tessie has had enough, she knows Rex is never going to give it all up for her and she makes the decision to cut all ties and keep him at arms length. Her secret will need to remain a secret.
Tessie first gets to know Shooter when he helps he after her old run down car breaks down on her way home from her shift, in the dark on her own she calls for help, the last person she wants to see if Rex, she knows if she sees him her resolve will break. Luckily for her Rex is " too busy " and sends her brother Shooter to help her out.
Tessie has always felt safe at work until some tragic happens to her. Shooter once again comes to her rescue and thank god he does !! Little does she know that he has feeling for her and hates the way Rex has treated her through out the years and he is there to rescue her is every way possible.
Loved It !! Chelsea has done it again with this book, brilliant writing and the flow of the story has you gripped. Emotional and tragic in places but heart warming all at the same time.
