City girl and serial non-dater, Affrica Clarke travels to Boulia, Australia, to investigate the environmental impacts of the local mining company. Unless she proves herself and wins that promotion, she’ll lose so much more than a pay rise. Yet everything goes wrong the moment she lands in the outback. With no research equipment, only skimpy clothes packed by her best friend to help her score a date, and a tight deadline to submit her report, she’s screwed. So when a sexy cowboy offers to play chauffeur, she’s all over it. But she’s there to shut down the mining activities, not fawn over the guy who’s supporting them, no matter how sizzling the attraction between them.
Billionaire jackaroo, Sam Preston tempts fate as an adrenaline junkie, living each day as if it were his last. Angry and wounded, he’s in town to sell his cattle ranch to the local mining company and be done with his past—until he meets hapless city-chick Affrica, who has no clue about surviving in the desert. Sam doesn’t know how to stop being a daredevil even though Affrica reminds him of the happiness he once had.
Can Sam let go of the past before he loses the one person who's finally breathed new life into him, or is it not possible to truly tame a jackaroo?

This is a great book which took me on a journey I really wasn’t expecting, giving the reader a trip through the outback with a steamy romance along the way.
Affrica works in Sydney as an environmentalist, searching for information regarding mining companies in Australia. She’s had a tough life so far with her mum leaving her and her dad when she was a young girl, now Affrica’s using all her money to help pay for her dads medical bill and keep a roof over his head as well as pay her own rent. She’s desperate for her big break and to bag herself the promotion she’s worked so hard for. As luck would have it her boss has to send her on an assignment to Boulia to follow up on a cattle station owners concerns. Here Affrica meets Sam Preston, he’s moody, rude and utterly gorgeous. Will this assignment lead Affrica to the promotion she desires or will other distractions lead her down a completely different track?
Sam is the owner of the largest cattle station in Boulia, but he hasn’t been home for a year now and doesn’t plan on hanging around for long either! Seeing his brother again after so long, with the building tension between them after a family tragedy pulled them apart, Sam is about to drop a bombshell that will push him even further away but he doesn’t care he’s got the world to explore and adventures to keep him busy. That’s until he meets Affrica who makes him question his plans for the future, little does she know that she features so heavily in them.
The attraction between these two characters is smouldering and its got nothing to do with the temperature of the outback! If you picture a hunky cowboy in your mind then you get Sam Preston every girls dream! Well mine anyway!! What makes Sam so appealing is not just his looks but its own personal demons that he fighting with, it makes you just want to help him, to complete him again even if you know its not going to be easy, basically he’s a challenge one which I think most women would accept! Mix in Affrica who is a strong women who knows what she wants but even the strongest women is left completely disarmed in Sam’s presence. The tension between the two builds through out the book until your begging for something more to happen, but with a lot of obstacles in their way will they ever get together?
I enjoyed Taming the Jackaroo, it was a little slow in places but I think that help build the anticipation to what was to come, i look forward to reading the next book from Sydney Valentine.
