Excerpt
In that
moment, I knew.
Sometimes,
you were swept away by the ocean.
Others, you
threw yourselves at the rocks and took a chance.
Yes.
I jumped,
wrapping my legs around his waist. Cameron’s hands strengthened around me,
holding me close, keeping me there, and our lips met in a kiss that was all
passion, all desire, all lust. Weeks of longing for this man exploded within me
as I tasted him, felt the delicious contradiction of his soft mouth, his harsh
stubble, his teeth as they bit against my lip in a heady mixture of pleasure
and pain.
This was
it. He was my truth.

***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review – Lauren / Scandalous Book Blog***Bitter truth starts off giving us Everly’s version on book one and this is where we really get to know her. I love how Lauren k Mckellar has written this book, how the same event can shatter two different people for completely different reasons.
As a midwife Everly has cared for hundreds of pregnant woman, but imagine the heart ache of not being able to conceive yourself, unfortunately this is Everly’s predicament. To make it worse she has found out her husband is having an affair. Here she meets Cameron, he doesn’t know it but they are connected in their pasts but Everly decides to keep this from him. Seeing how broken he is Everly vows to herself to help piece him back together again. Falling for Cameron was never part of her plan but that’s exactly what happens, but when secrets come up to the surface will she be able to explain her actions? Will Everly and Cameron both sink back into a dark depression or can they hold each other up and help each other through?
This book is so emotional that tears are to be expected, sorry! But it totally worth all the heart ache. Its written so beautifully, with love and empathy, you can’t help but be drawn in and fall in love with Cameron and Everly’s damaged souls and pray that they somehow find their happy ending. I’m completely in love with this duet and look forward to what’s to come next from Lauren K Mckellar, as always she has completely exceeded all expectations. I highly recommended this duet.

Lauren's Review
***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review – Lauren / Scandalous Book Blog***
Honest love is the first installment in the Twisted heart duet. This book caught me from the start pulling at every emotion all the way though the book, love, loss, guilt it’s all there and couldn’t have been written more perfectly.
Cameron has everything he could have wished for, the love of his life who is pregnant with his baby, overwhelming happiness and love in every aspect of his life. Now imagine that someone else decides to take it all away, that’s exactly what happens to Cameron. Honest love takes us on Cameron’s highly emotional journey as he starts his life again. Blocking his pain by drinking alcohol, Cameron makes a decision that will change his life, a one night stand turns from meaningless to everything when Cameron discovers he has a baby girl called Piper when she is left in his care while her mother carry’s out a prison sentence. Moving out of his apartment to a sea side town Cameron is finding it difficult, from caring for Piper when he has no idea what he’s doing, to the constant flashback to the day his world ended, he’s all over the place. All that changes when he meets Everly, instantly he feels a pull to her, she doesn’t treat him the same as everyone else in town. Spending more time together feelings start growing between the two but it doesn’t take long for Cameron’s guilt to take over, will Cameron ever be able to move on with Everly? Or will his past stop him from having a new future?
This book definitely keeps you on your toes, taking directions i certainly didn’t see coming. It does end in a cliff hanger though but i can’t wait for book 2.
