Cody Garrett, a former Navy SEAL, has never met a skirt he didn’t fancy. His six-pack, rugged looks and bad boy image ensures a steady stream of hot babes waiting to slip him their phone numbers wherever he goes.

So, he is confused when Bridie Barker refuses to go on a date with him.

It’s not like she’s a stunning beauty or something. According to him, her ears are big, she’s well-rounded and she’s not even a D-cup.

In spite of her shortcomings, the more she pushes him away, the more he finds himself thinking of her.

Twenty-year-old Bridie Barker has control issues. Every detail in her life is planned.
Her closet is color-coded and she has an array of storage containers, to ensure that everything is in its correct place.
Her whole world is black and white, and grey areas are a no-no.

When she meets the warm and grounded Scott Garrett, she thinks she has found her soul mate. Unfortunately, and to her disappointment, things don’t pan out with Scott.
While waiting tables, she has a disastrous run-in with his brother, Wild Boy Cody Garrett, King of Body Shots, who parties every night with a different girl.
Even though he’s good to look at and makes her laugh, she turns down his advances as he’s clearly the tag-and-release kind of guy.
Besides, she is pretty sure he owns not a single storage container, and she’s certain that his closet is not color-coded.
Problem is, Cody Garrett finds her rejection an aphrodisiac and pursues her.

Character Bios

Cody
6’3, with steel blue eyes, disheveled sandy hair and rugged good looks.
His confidence and cockiness was the second thing you noticed when you saw him.
His muscles were the first.
A former Navy Seal, he stilled works behind the scenes for the US government.
His choice of toys were planes.
And women. He hadn’t yet met a skirt he couldn’t conquer.
His good looks, self-assured attitude and six-pack ensured a steady stream of babes who always wanted to take body shots off him.
Cody being Cody, didn’t mind one single bit.
It took only a few drinks before he whipped off his shirt and showed off his abs of steel, not to mention his tattoos.
When he met Bridie, she confused the heck out of him even though she didn’t have a banging body and wasn’t a double-D.

Bridie
was dark blonde with grey-blue eyes, depending on how mad she was.
Around 5’7”, double-D, and with the right bust-to-mid-thigh Spanx, she could be a size 6. But on a Monday morning, she was usually a size 8.
Her make-up consisted mainly of bronzer and Strawberry Blue lip gloss (the blue in it made her teeth look whiter) and when she smiled, which she did often as she loved to laugh and had a sense of humor, you could see just about all her teeth.
Her strongest point was her sense of humor.
Her weakest point was her guardedness.
She always crossed the street at a pedestrian crossing, always showed up ten minutes early for an appointment, always paid her bills on or before the due-date, and always carried a safety pin in case the hem of her skirt opened or she lost a button.
Luckily, she had never ripped a hem or lost a button before.
A Boy Scout would have called her ‘prepared.’
Shontelle, her best friend called her guarded.

Scott
was shy. That was the first thing you noticed about him.
The second thing you’d notice was his blue eyes. They were deep and liquid.
Around 6”2, Scott was just as buff as Cody, but unlike Cody, he had no tattoos and wasn’t comfortable being the center of attention.
He was always neat, well groomed and respectful, but he was no pushover.
He had a quiet strength to him that Bridie found appealing.
Unlike his brother, he wasn’t in any way a player. So when he met Bridie,
it took him minutes to fall for her.
When he lost Bridie, his disappointment was tangible. But he was respectful enough
not to cross boundaries.
“Now,” he said, when he surfaced for air, “what the fuck is your problem?”

Before I could answer, he kissed me again, then said, “Don’t answer that. I’m sick of you and your stuck up ways! You’re driving me nuts with your bitching.”

Another kiss, before he spoke again.

“Show me how to act grown up, Bridie. I need your help here. I’m the eldest child in my family and I have a crude sense of entitlement. It’s what gives me confidence to achieve in life, but at the same time, it’s my downfall. It makes me a spoiled son of a bitch, and fuck, I never realized it until now, and baby, I really needed my ass kicked by someone like you.” He kissed me again.
“This ass-kicking, it’s an experience like nothing I have ever felt before. I like it and I hate it. Now, just put your arms around my neck and kiss me like you did before.”
I summoned a glare but when I looked into his blue eyes, my insides turned to mush.
To my disgust, my levelheadedness, my determination to lose him and all Usher’s Burn motivating lyrics did a David Copperfield on me and vanished. Poof!
To my disgust, I put my arms around his neck and matched the intensity of his kisses.
As I kissed him, the bruising inside of me healed and the burning ceased. He was a dose of citrus-flavored antacid to my soul.
“Now, that’s better,” he said between kisses. “Don’t you feel better now that you surrendered to me? Huh? Don’t you? Huh?”
“Shaddup!” I whispered, as I held his face in my hands and kissed him.
“Okay, okay, I’ll shaddup.”
“I don’t wanna be forced into anything,” I said in a meaningful voice. “I’m not into body shots, I don’t do threesomes, I’m old-fashioned in a lot of ways and I tend to go …”
“What?” he frowned. “You mean you don’t want to fuck me in the back seat of my Hummer?”
“No.”
"What about in an hour?"
"NO!"
"Okay!"

Review

OK so this book is NOT what I would expected from a romance. It Is not a book I would normally read and it's not a book I would read again. Although I didn't hate it I didn't love it. It's about Birdie and Cody's whirlwind romance. Some of It is from Birdie's point of view and some of it is from Cody's point of view.

The writer made everything flow together. You may think something is going to happen and wham! She changes directions. This book is more real than other romances. If you don't like vulgar words don't read this. However if you want something different than the traditional romance pick this book up and I promise you will not stop reading it.

Years ago, Cody Garrett’s heart was ripped to shreds when Bridie ditched him and married his brother, Scott.

With great difficulty, he moved on and rebuilt his life without her, severing all ties with his brother because of their betrayal.

Now, Scott, his brother, is ill and a threat to his wife and children.
Cody is forced to step in and move them into his house.
Being physically so close to Bridie, and spending time alone with her, brings back a flood of memories, and he finds it a daily struggle to contain his feelings for his brother’s wife.

To Bridie, who likes to put things (and people) in perspective, Cody Garrett was filed under ‘Cheat’ and she too moved on with her life.

But while living with him, she stumbles upon secrets involving Cody and her, that changes everything.

Now, she must fight her feeling for Cody and remain true to her marriage.

MY BROTHER, MY RIVAL is a sexy, two-part, modern-day love story that will have you laughing, crying and gasping with disbelief as the story unfolds.

Book one must be read before book 2

Warning: sex scenes, violence and coarse language.

But my rage, my anger towards Stephanie was the least of my worries.

A different set of fantasies proved even more troubling.

Cody.
Me and him. Me and him sleeping together.
Wait! Allow me to rephrase that. Me and him fucking like crazy.
I couldn’t get the images out of my mind. I couldn’t get him out of my mind, and my showers became frequent and colder.
It’s true – an idle mind is a devil’s workshop.
The moment my mind was relaxed, the workshop came alive and my fantasies sprouted – me and him in the backseat of his Hummer, me and him in my bathroom when the kids were asleep, me and him in a hotel during the day, me and him in the garage having a quickie.
This longing for him, the need to touch him, taste him, feel him and breathe him was all-consuming and I unhinged and feverish.
Sometimes, I felt like crying, that’s how plagued I was.
I thought of him the first thing in the morning and the last thing at night. If my sleep broke, my mind drifted to him, sleeping a few feet away.
Of course, I suspected he felt the same way. The way his eyes would follow me around, then when our eyes met, he’d shift his away. But sometimes he didn’t, and our gaze locked.
He started to walk around shirtless and touched me at every available opportunity.
But it wasn’t enough for me.
Subconsciously, I went into seduction mode. Maybe even consciously, I don’t know.
My shorts grew shorter, my tops grew tighter and my sheer nightdresses grew sheerer. I tossed my hair, cocked my head, smiled at him from under my lashes, slowly licked a spoon, walked like Cat Woman when I was sure he was looking at my ass, and used my cotton candy voice on him.
Even though I wasn’t sleeping with him, I had Brazilians and wore thongs.
I was ripe for him, I was asking for it and I paraded my wares like a hooker.
Wanton.
That’s what I was.

I just wanted my husband’s brother.

Review

This book was more difficult to read because I knew how the first book went. However, it was a decent book. I wouldn't read it again (just like the first book). It was told from both characters. Again I am not a fan of these two books because they have a too real feel and I enjoy more fantasy romances

The book was nicely written.  Again there was a lot of vulgar language. I enjoyed reading the conclusion to how the book ends.
