REVIEW~TWICE IN A LIFETIME By Ruthie Henrick
Is it possible to find your one true love…twice?
Blind date. When Allie and Ben are thrown together to help their friends out of a bind, they find the unexpected – and unwanted - spark of attraction difficult to ignore. Surrendering to it, they marry and live their happyish-ever-after – until Ben’s death reveals a betrayal that rocks Allie’s world.
The sidelines. Where Jake has hovered for the past fifteen years, business partners with his best friend, in love with his best friend’s wife. He’s shocked by his friend’s duplicity, overcome by the guilt of a deathbed promise. But he’s waited half a lifetime for a chance to love Allie, and it’s time to make his move.
Marriage. Allie might be ready to take the slow slide from friend to lover, but a lifetime is a leap she won’t agree to. She can’t deprive Jake of the family he’s never had but longs for – the family she can no longer give him. How can she refuse him, though, when he sets out to prove the only family he needs – has ever wanted – is her?

This book is really something special, from the moment I read the blurb I knew it was right up my ally. I Love a genuine Love story with real heart, second chances, fantastic relatable characters and Twice In A Lifetime delivered on all basis and so much more.
The plot was simple no gimmick or shenanigans I think that was one of the beauty of this book the story and the way in which it was written Stood out on it's own --- stunning, completely breathtaking. I LOVED every single minute of it, I really did not want it to end.
The books opens up with Allie finishing a session with her therapist and he finally letting of of the past and anger she has for Ben. Its a great start because I wanted desperately to know what exactly Ben did to cause such a reaction from her that she required therapy.
Ruth takes us back 19 years to when Ben, Allie and Jack met for the first time and their story began, I just LOVE LOVE LOVE how we got to see all three of their POV's and the way it all flowed together like pure honey. I can't get over just how perfect the writing and flow is after I read I started telling everyone how amazing the writing is let me tell you its effing sick if I was to ever write a book this is what I would aspire it to be like, I just cannot get over how exquisite the writing and flow is.
This does not feel like a debut novel it really does not, I don't really wanna say too much about the actual story apart from the fact that it's simply effortless, well taught-out, executed with perfection, poise and grace.
The love and warmth dazzled from the pages you can fell the love between the characters and also the authors love of the words she has written I got a sense of pride it was truly a joy to read.
Jake fell in love with Allie from the moment he laid eyes on her, problem at the time he was in a relationship with her best friend and his Life-long best friend Ben is also into her and went on to pressure a relation with Allie eventually marry and having a son Trey together. All the while Jake is on the sideline watching and wishing Allie was his but he learns to be apart of their lives as a friend only. We got to see all major events in their lives from all three POV right up until Ben's tragic death.
Jake is beyond amazing, when Ben died he stepped up to the plate and became the man in Allie and Trey's life without over stepping his mark. He loved Ben as much as Allie and wanted to respect the memory of his friend even after discovering the depth of his deception. He is truly genuine person and a wonderful loyal friend.
Three years after Ben's death, Allie is finally ready to move on and get back into the dating game she goes on some pretty funny dates which starts to tear Jake up inside. He has kept his feelings a secret (or so he taught) for so long that he is at a breaking point, something needs to change he can't continue they way he has. He wants to he honest with Allie but is uncertain of how she will react.
Will Allie open her eyes to finally see what has being right in front of her all this time?
Can she really have a Twice in a lifetime love and HEA?
Only way to find out get your copy of this outstanding book.
I highly recommend 6++++starts all the way
AMAZING!!!!!!!
PS. Even if the story is not for you the writing will blow you away its a grantee superb and I would love to see another story at least a novella from Trey he is such a sweet caring young man.
Hi there! I'm Ruthie Henrick, and I’m an Arizona girl. I write romantic women’s fiction and contemporary romance.
I’ve always been an avid reader, even as a child. I’ll read just about anything, but I love anything with romance in it – I am a romance junkie.
I first started writing a couple of years ago. I’ve never been that person who dreamed about being an author or loved telling stories. I used to try making up bedtime stories when my kids were little and I’d draw a blank every time. But an idea had been running through my mind for a while so I decided to start typing and see where it led. Three months later I had a really good first draft. Let me tell you, nobody was more surprised than me!
I love music, especially country music, and that’s generally the soundtrack to whatever I have going on. At work, doing housework, in the car – the music is always on. Except when I write – that I have to do in silence.
We have three sons and they’re all grown and scattered around the country, but the Big Kahuna and I are still ruled by a fifteen-year-old deaf Pekinese with OCD. Life is interesting!
I’m not much of a TV watcher, except for shows like The Voice and American Idol. Gives me lots of time to write, and read. Like many of you, I have a one-click compulsion. The number of unread books on my Kindle is really embarrassing.
I love chatting with other readers, sharing my favorite books and authors, and discovering those new to me. Come by and hang out with me on any of my social media
