Tucker McCoy thought the hardest mission of his life was over. After being deployed for six years, all he wanted to do was return home to his wife and daughter. But when he arrives home with roses in his hand, the last thing he expects is to be welcomed by a stranger. Being presumed dead for six years doesn’t help his cause as no one is giving him the answers he needs.
Now his mission is to find out where his family is and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to bring them home, even if that means bringing down the people involved.
Penelope McCoy has a secret and one she’s willing to keep until she can find someone to trust. In order to do that, she and her daughter must hide, change their identities and forget about their previous life.
For six years she’s been running and she soon realizes that time is catching up with her. Now she has to decide whether to run again or face the ghosts of her past head on.

Having Penelope on my bike now, with her hands caressing my skin, even if she’s not meaning to, makes me realize that I like her there. I’m enjoying the way her legs are pressed against my hips and the way her fingers graze my skin so innocently.
Pulling off to one of the lookout points, I set both feet down and shut off my bike.
“Watch,” I instruct, pointing to the sky. Without hesitation, she rests her head on my shoulder and I instinctively lean into her. I like it. I like the way I’m feeling with her right now. She’s here because she wants to be, not because of who I am.
"What am I watching for?”
“Birds.”
“It’s dark, I can’t see a bird in the dark. No one can.”
Realizing my mistake, I shake my head. “Fighter jets. They’ll be coming to land in a second.”
“How do you know?”
Because I wanted to be one until I found the SEALs.
“When you live on base, you follow patterns.” Before I can say anything else, two jets appear and align themselves for landing.
“Are you a pilot?”
“No, I’m not cool like that.”
“So what do you do?”
Kill bad people.
“I’m the guy who protects you while you sleep.”
Diane's Review
I'm truly excited and honoured to get to review an ARC of Save Me by Heidi McLaughlin in exchange for an honest and spoiler free review. This great story deserves a 5 star review.
Save me is the third book in The Archer Brothers series, although it can be read as a standalone because the author got the readers up to date with a few chapters of explanations and descriptions from the first 2 books. The characters from the previous stories play an important role in the development of this journey. I'm glad I had read both books not so long ago.
This is about Tucker who as been deployed for over 6 years, to return home to a stranger who answers the door. His wife and daughter have vanished without a trace. Now he will go to any length in order to find them. With the help of his fellow Navy friends and family they will work hard to find out what happened.
Penny has been running and hiding for the last 6 years. Tucker was killed in action, so it seams, her daughter was in danger so she ran. Now Tucker needs to figure out why? And where are they?
This story was addicting, intriguing, captivating and highly suspenseful with a touch of some romance. But it was mostly about Tucker adjusting to life back home and Penny trying to hide from her past. I was tangled in a web of deceit which I didn't know who I should trust or not. It's so intriguing it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the reading of this story. Once I started reading this story, I was hooked from the very fist page read to the very last one. Nicely written with a seamless plot that had an original storyline. Great remarkable characters.
It's non stop action packed with never a dull moment. I thought this story was somewhat darker than her previous books, but not overly so.
Story told in a dual POV that brings the readers back in the past a few times. It could be read as a standalone but I'm really glad I had read the 2 previous books before reading this one. It does have an HEA that is much deserved. I would like to warn readers that there is talk of pedophilia, there are no descriptions thought. I highly recommend this story and all of Heidi's other books are worth it also.
