A heartwarming second chance romance novel. This story revolves around Nat and Aiden who were childhood sweethearts. Nat is a sweat girl who has strong beliefs and comes from a big Italian family who do not approve of her relationship with Aiden. Aiden has turned into a bad boy after loosing his mum and his dad turns to alcohol destroying the family that his mum had left behind.
Aiden returns to Red River to care for his sick father after loosing the toss of a coin with his brother, yep no love loss there !!!. Aiden and his brother left Red River to rebuild their life after becoming out of control and having no relationship with their father.
He wasn't expecting a warm welcome from Nat after what he done to her, he broke her heart and she had never forgiven him. Also seems that his dad is not best pleased he is back either !!
This story is based on building relationships and second chances. The relationship between Aiden and his father really pulls at the heart strings. Aiden is so bitter of the way his father let his brother and himself down when they needed him the most. Aiden always knew he was never good enough for Nat. He is completely floored when he see's her, their reunion is just what he expected but this time he has to fight for her, he cant lose her a second time.
Nat cant believe Aiden is back in town, she always hoped he would come back for her but she knows he isn't back out of choice and only her for a short time to care for his sick dad. Her disgust and anger at him is obvious however she knows her feelings for him haven't changed and he is doing his utmost to win her round. Nat has high morals and tries so hard to not let him close but my god she still finds him so hot, he clearly has his life together now but that cant take away the past.
This is a first Victoria James for me, I did enjoy the book , it was emotional at times and really heartwarming at others and it touches on a story a lot of people can relate to. I really warmed to Aiden's character but felt Nat's character was a little immature and I really wanted Nat stand up for herself more but this doesn't spoil the story and is only my opinion.

Victoria always knew she wanted to be a writer and in grade five, she penned her first story, bound it (with staples and a cardboard cover) and did all the illustrations herself. Luckily, this book will never see the light of day again.
In high school she fell in love with historical romance and then contemporary romance. After graduating University with an English Literature degree, Victoria pursued a degree in Interior Design and then opened her own business. After her first child, Victoria knew it was time to fulfill her dream of writing romantic fiction.
Victoria is a hopeless romantic who is living her dream, penning happily-ever-after’s for her characters in between managing kids and the family business. Writing on a laptop in the middle of the country in a rambling old Victorian house would be ideal, but she’s quite content living in suburbia with her husband, their two young children, and very bad cat.
