There are two kinds of women in the world – those I can bang, and those
I can’t.
My teammate’s sister?
She’s a can’t.
I moved in with her to protect her from a nasty ex, not to be the next guy in line.
She’s the brains.
I’m the brawn.
She’s the fruit.
I’m the sausage.
She talks too much.
I don’t talk at all, if I don’t have to.
Should be easy to resist her.
But every minute I spend with Felicity is another minute she gets under my skin. She makes me feel like something more than a dumb puckhead with a big Zamboni pony. And it’s getting harder to remember why I need to keep my hands to myself.
Beauty and the Beefcake is a vegan-friendly standalone romantic comedy featuring a hockey player whose vocabulary is the only thing smaller than a hockey puck, a book smart but aimless ventriloquist with too many voices in her head, a dilapidated old house that may or may not be haunted, and no cheating or cliffhangers.

Beauty and the Beefcake
Author: Pippa Grant
Rating: 5 *
I’ve loved reading this series so far so couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. So far Zeus has definitely been my favourite and this book focuses on his twin brother Ares, who has taken the strong and silent type to a new extreme. Known as the stupid brother Ares basically doesn’t speak, he just grunts or sends Gifs on his phone to communicate, although everyone around him seems to know exactly what he’s saying.
The Berger twins have been playing ice hockey since they could walk, always together causing trouble on and off the ice. Ares and Zeus are separated when they are transferred to different teams, then disaster strikes when Ares is injured and forced off the ice, he’s a Stubborn man and thinks he knows best and doesn’t listen to medical advice. That’s until his team mate needs his help to look out for his younger sister with a stalker ex and Ares moves into her home. I don’t know what Ares was expecting when he met Felicity but it definitely wasn’t a smart, beautiful, ventriloquist who is constantly speaking in multiple voices to herself or anyone who will listen. Oh and she’s also a training physio assistant, who really can’t find her way in life.
Living with Felicity and his pet monkey Loki (don't ask) is never boring, from the nut job ex he’s chasing away to her Grammy’s ghost interfering around the house and her over protective, over bearing big brother, Ares can’t help but fall for her quirky ways but he knows she’s off limits.
Felicity’s lost her way in life, extremely smart with numerous degrees under her belt she hasn’t got a clue where to go next, there’s only one thing she wants to do and that’s to work for her favourite ice hockey team in any capacity but they keep turning her away. Becoming a physio assistant could be a chance to get in with the club, hockey is her life, she can’t play but she still lives and breathes it and her brother plays for the team. She’s also really unlucky in love, always attracting the weridos but her lucks got to change sometime soon right? Becoming a ventriloquist at a young age Felicity has perfected the art but speaks through her puppets continuously, maybe she’s the weird one! She’s instantly attracted to Ares, but of course she is, he doesn’t speak! But she can feel theirs more to this man than meets the eye.
Instantly the pair just get each other and chemistry between the two becomes an inferno, they are perfect for each other but can they both believe in themselves to discover their self worth and take that leap with each other or will their pasts keep on repeating themselves?
When I first started reading this book I must admit I found it a little odd, a man unable to mutter more than a few words and a women who well basically doesn’t shut up, mostly talking to herself in different voices, but it just works. Ares and Felicity are an amazing couple complementing each other perfectly, throw in their families and friends and you get an amazing story.
I must admit after reading this book Ares has knocked Zeus out of the rink for me. This man has so many layers, I couldn’t wait to peel them back. I can’t wait for the next book in the series, it can’t come fast enough!
