Mmmm.... I must agree I love a man in uniform, but damn I think I need a marine!
Grayson was once a confident, beautiful young woman. Then she met Josh her freshmen year of college. He seemed perfect at first, but soon his true color came out. Nothing Grayson did was right and he made sure she knew it. He beat her, threatened her, then tried to apologize every time.
Finally after years together and an engagement, Grayson was done.
Unfortunately, he did not agree causing another fight and her to take off in the middle of the night while he was at work.
Hello Tennessee! Grayson sees this as her fresh start and heads to her mother's home. 15 minutes left and she stops at Starbucks, little did she know that was truly the beginning for her new life.
Enters Derrick. At first glance, he is gorgeous and sitting there reading. Then he becomes cocky and before Grayson walks out of Starbucks she has his number and not by her choice. She doesn't throw it away though because she definitely cannot deny her attraction to him or the electric connection produced by just a brush of their hands.
Starting new, Grayson decides it is time for her to loosen up which in Luna's, her twin sister, terms means one night stands.
To both of their shock, Grayson goes through with it.
The next day, however, the unexpected happens Derrick is part of Ethan's, her older brother, Green Beret team. She is not ready for a relationship, but she still cannot help but be drawn to him.
The girls are announced as off limits, but Derrick makes sure she knows rules are meant to be broken. She cannot help but want him to break those rule, yet needs him to abide at the same time.
"She stepped back, needing to get some air. She felt completely unbalanced around him. It was disturbing."
They both fight getting together to a certain extent, but they both want each other. But can they handle a no strings relationship? Will Josh just let her go without a fight? How long would it take to be honest about their feelings? If they do, will it be too late?
"She was an addict, and Derrick was her drug of choice. It was as if she was going through withdrawals with no word from him."
Now or Never has certainly given us a prime example of stubborn. It is written in third person with main focus on Grayson's thoughts and actions. We get to see when even their stubbornness becomes too much. Jealously shows it ugly head too. There are many emotions portrayed in both characters, and the author, A.J. Bennett, does very well expressing them in each character. Although, I personally would love some of Derrick's point of view. I can only imagine the emotions hidden under his neutral face.
