Amelia is just your average 15 year old. Or at least that is what she has always believed. She soon finds out that she is so far from average. Her whole life as she thought is about to be completely shaken.
It all starts with weird occurrences between herself and Nathaniel, her crush and brother's best friend. Then her suspicions continue to grow as she hears the strangest conversation between her parents. It doesn't stop there though. After a murder of a friend from school and seeing pictures of cult markings at the crime scene, she begins to put several things together.
Finally she is given some answers. She is a Gaia and her family isn't really her family. Talk about your world being turned upside down. Then to add to the pot, there are hunters after people like her, otherworlders.
She wants desperately to talk to someone about all of this, but who can she trust to talk to? When she tries to talk to her best friend Evelyn, she realized she knows more than she is telling. Then when she runs to the only other person she can talk to, she finds her dead with similar markings and candles around her body from the pictures she had seen from the first killing. Why are they killing all of these people and can it be stopped?
Natural Selection is written from Amelia's point of view. I absolutely love this story! Her lack of knowledge and confusion just draws the reader in in hopes that they can help her figure it out. When she changes, the reader can also see the changes in her point of view and reactions. The story does an amazing job portraying this young woman going through so much. I do not think any author could have done a better job embracing every aspect necessary for this book.

Wow! When they say books should continue to get better as the series goes on, they had no idea how this book would blow that phrase away!
In Second Nature, Lia has embraced the new her, but her mate has left her disappointed. Damn Nate! Upon getting settled, he left Lia to fend for herself. Even after he realized how it affected their abilities. This only made him come back when it was necessity.
"I think your problem, Nathanial, is you're still thinking with your human mind. We're not human, so the traditional ideals we grew up with on television don't exactly hold true. Love and marriage are different for everyone else in the world. We are so far south of normal we should have penguins as our neighbors!"
Lia has really grown up. She gives as well as she takes. As far as Nate is concerned, Lia has taken enough. She makes sure he knows it when she kicks him out of her house.
"I don't care. You're already killing me!" A tear slid down my cheek, and I dashed it away furiously. Nate tried to put his arms around me and I side stepped. I stalked to the door and opened it. "Out!" I snapped, pointing for emphasis."
Lia could not take anymore, and who can blame her? She decides to go somewhere to help her lose her anger, and finds herself at a bookstore. Little did she know, she had stumbled upon an angel, and boy oh boy is he gorgeous!! She couldn't help, but poor her heart out to him ,but not before she was sure she could trust him. Unfortunately, that still left two other people she had to tell, Xander and Sariah. Which Xander totally took horribly, and decided to show Nate what happens when he hurts his family.
"You know what pisses me off the most about all this? Despite what you've done to her, she still loves you. Hell is you've shown me you're worth it."
Of course that isn't the end of the relationship drama, but lets get to the action. Xan is kidnapped by a Librarian trying to drain his blood, but why? Lia and Sariah find him and get him out, but not without Lia getting hurt. Will she make it, well not without a certain angel!! Which starts more relationship drama. Oops!
There worries don't end there because guess what certain witch is after them. That's right Peter is out for revenge, but what will it take to stop him? Can they even come close to getting rid of him?
Second Nature is written from Lia's point of view. She is still emotional, but more grounded. She is no longer a child, but a young woman. She's smart, but she still doesn't know everything she needs to know. It especially sucks since there are a ton of things that can help her in this war. This series just keeps getting better!!

Better Nature by Elizabeth Sharp
No matter how she tries to deny it, Amelia Hoffman has a destiny. An evil plot threatens to destroy humanity and the future lies in her hands. To make things even more difficult, she is distracted by college, family squabbles and trying to decide between two men she loves.
But destiny won’t be ignored for long.
When an explosion tears through the Library that houses the entire history of the Otherworld, Amelia is thrust into action. She has to fight through the tension tearing the Otherworld apart to rally an army. As the danger grows, Amelia must rise to fulfill the prophecy.
Or the whole world could fall.

I must say again, it only gets better! The suspense continues to kill me in these books. The action is amazing.
Lia meets a Banshee, Molly, at school, but go figure the girl has no idea about the otherworld. Now Lia takes on the job of helping her understand it all, and who she is. Luckily, this is not the first instance that Lia has met others that have no idea what they really are. However how did she go so long without knowing?
Lia thinks things are going well and goes to visit May. However, May has bad news for her. may already knows that she is not going to make it through Spring. Of course, Lia does not want to hear this. She has already been through so much already. May makes sure she knows that she must die to prepare them for the evil that is to come.
Bad news just can't end here. The library in Ithaca is destroyed. Even worse Russel went to meet with the council and they are holding him, even if they don't believe he did it. They do believe Leslie has something to do with it though. Especially because that is where the weapons are.
These weapons they figure out may just be to form the seven, but there is only one way to find out. They need a vampire, banshee, and a werewolf. Can they really defeat the evil that is coming, or will they be too late? What all does this prophecy pertain to? Especially since it seemed to frighten the acting head council member that Lia is the prophesized Gaia.
Better Nature is written from Lia's point of view. It really shows how they all come together for one cause. The unity that it takes to have the strength to beat the evil that is coming is truly amazing. The author has done an amazing job with this book, and really the whole series. I have truly been blown away by this series.

Author Bio:
Elizabeth has a near crippling Facebook addiction, dwarfed only by her need for Dr. Pepper. A self-proclaimed techno geek, she loves cell phones, computers, tablets and all things technological. The internet has to be the greatest invention since the wheel, in her opinion. She lives in a quiet subdivision with her husband, one-year-old son, three cats, and far too many electronics. It’s quite possible she has some raccoon in her DNA, because she loves glitter and anything that sparkles. She enjoys making jewelry and costumes. Halloween is her favorite holiday since it’s the one day of the year that you can be whatever you want. But her first love will always be writing. Otherwise, hearing voices in her head would make her feel schizophrenic.
