BLOG TOUR STOP~ FORGET ME NOT by Sarah Daltry
TITLE: Forget Me Not
AUTHOR: Sarah Daltry
Synopsis:
Lily had a crush on her brother's best friend, Derek for years - which led to their steamy night ten months ago in her bedroom. Now, Lily is going off to college and she and Derek are still going strong. However, when school starts, she realizes it's hard to maintain a relationship while also trying to live her own life. She and Derek find themselves falling apart and Lily has no idea where to turn.
Enter Jack. Everything about him is wrong for Lily and she knows it, but she can't stop herself from being attracted to him. When things implode with Derek, it's Jack who is there to pick up the pieces - and show Lily an entirely new set of experiences she didn't know she was missing.
Of course, Jack has his own problems and once Lily gets to know him better, she starts to wonder if she can handle all of Jack. When Derek reappears on the scene, Lily is forced to decide between two guys and herself. Can she find herself without losing the people who matter in the process?
**New Adult Contemporary Romance. Due to language & sexual content, this book is recommended for readers 17 & older**
Holy Shit! This book is hott!
I absolutely didn't know what to expect after reading the short story that precedes this one. Once I began reading this, I realized the short story only gives you a small view into Lily and Derek.
Lily and Derek have been together for 10 months, but Lily has loved him for as long as she can remember. Now she is starting college, but not the same one as he is. She begins to mope around because she is lonely.
Lily makes friends, but will not allow herself to open up to them because she is so hung up on Derek. By the time he comes back around, she is being very clingy and showing major signs of jealousy. She also learns he wants to play rugby which leads to less time together. Can they survive college as a couple? Will they be able to find time for each other?
People change everyday, but during college some people change significantly. Will you still be loved for the person you were before, or will you be seen for the person you are now?
Forget Me Not is written from Lily's point of view. I absolutely love this book and believe it is very well written. The author does an amazing job with these characters. Fucked up, or not. I must say I am very happy with the results of this book and I could really go for more.

“He’s
gone for a bit,” Derek says. “But he’s right. I don’t want to screw up your
first day. I know you have classes tomorrow, but we will talk after dinner?”
“Yeah,
call me. I like talking to you on the phone. Besides, then I can-”
He
laughs. “Yeah, I know. I remember a certain night last fall. I know exactly
what you can do.”
“It’s
all for you, Derek.”
“What
about tonight? Any plans?” His voice is teasing and I feel the tingling between
my legs in response.
“Well,
do you have a minute?”
“I
certainly do,” he says and, although I can’t see it from this angle, I know
he’s reaching for his zipper.
“You
know my pussy is wet just thinking about you?” I reach between my legs, sliding
my hand up under my nightshirt, and tease my clit while I watch his face react
to what I’m saying.
“Are
you touching it?”
“I
am. What are you doing?”
“Missing
you.” I can see his arm moving, but it’s his face that identifies just what
Derek is doing. He closes his eyes and lets out a soft groan. I imagine him
stroking himself and think of earlier this evening.
“Keep
thinking about putting that cock inside of me, Derek.”
“Oh,
Lily, you’re so fucking tight. I want to fuck you right now.”
I
move my fingers faster, slipping two inside of myself and I watch Derek jerk
off. His eyes stay closed while he says my name, but it turns me on to see what
he’s doing. I think of riding him and how good his cock feels inside me, and
how big it is when he’s hard and ready. I wish I could see it, but the fact
that I can’t almost makes me hotter. I come while I picture him fucking me and
then I just enjoy watching him finish. After he’s done, he looks a little
embarrassed but I smile.
“That
was hot.”
“It’s
still not the same as being with you,” he says.
“I
know, but you know I’m all yours.”
“Good.
I will be sure to enjoy you this weekend, but get some sleep tonight. I love
you, sweetie.”
Playlist:
I have to admit I was a year or two
out of college, I think, when this song came out, but it reminds me so much of
school and it is a great break up song. Not depressing, just more accepting of
the way things change. I think it captures the theme of the novel pretty well.
For me, this song captures the way
that Jack feels about Lily – he wants to be good enough for her, but he also
knows his own story is tough to face. He wants to love her, but he doesn’t
think he deserves real love.
Oh, this song. There are three
reasons I chose this. First, at one point during a sex scene, Lily mentions
that the music playing is violently angry. This is the kind of music I pictured
for that scene. Secondly, Jack is in a band and this is the kind of music I
imagine they play, and the lyrics would be the sort Jack would write. He
definitely would see himself as a “rat in a cage.” Finally, I wrote a book
about college. I went to college in the 1990’s. There was no way I wasn’t
mentioning Smashing Pumpkins! Lol. J
The novel is romance and it is
erotica, but it is also about letting go and moving on. This song reminds me of
that moment when you know everything is falling apart, but you want to hang on
and make things go back to the way they were before. Lily can’t understand what
is happening and she isn’t sure she is ready for everything to end yet.
In some ways, this is self-explanatory,
but I love the lyrics for this novel. Not only is the song about moving on, but
it is also about saving yourself and not hoping someone else can save you.
