REVIEW TOUR STOP~FIX YOU By

"Richard, we had a baby."
31st December 1999. Seventeen-year-old Brit, Hanna Vincent, meets New Yorker, Richard Larsen; a Columbia student and step-son of scion Leon Maxwell. Divided by wealth, distance and a common language, an unconventional friendship grows between the two.
From London to New York, from 1999 to 2012, Fix You follows the story of quirky, music-loving Hanna and handsome, driven Richard as they fall in love and are torn apart. Their tempestuous relationship leads to an explosive revelation that threatens to destroy them both.
Emotional and touching, this is a story of second chancesIs their shattered love beyond repair?
Oh man this book is something else, I enjoyed it immensely from the prologue I was hanging on the edge of my seat.
"Richard, we had a baby."  that is where the prologue ended so we are left wondering what happened between the Hanna and Richard  but not for long as the first half of the book takes us back to the very beginning when 17 year old Hanna meet 20 year old Richard and then follow their  journey of innocent friendship, love, lost, heartbreak and betrayal throughout the years. We get to see all their highs and some devastating lows up until the point when Richard finds out he father a child with the only women he has ever loved. Then the second half of book is the present; Richard and Hanna are fully grown adults who have been through a hell of a lot in the last decade and now they are working together to parent Matty.

The pair Met for the first time in 1999 where Hanna struck up a relationship with the Larsen family they welcomed her with open arms. She forms a very special friendship with Ruby Richards younger sister who he completely adores. Through looking after Ruby during the summer Richard and Hanna grow closer and em brake on a unconventional friendship that continues even when Richard returns to the US.  They stay in touch throughout the years and spend time together they are in the same county. They have something special but I think being young and not fully understanding their feelings at that point they stayed strictly friends. Which |I think is not a bad thing because when they finally get together the relation is easy because of the foundation their friendship built.
"He wasn't sure how he knew she was near. Maybe he saw something from the corner of his eyes, or perhaps the hairs on his skin stood on end at her closeness."
A few years into their relationship they are  ripped apart when grief and depression got the better of  Hanna. She ran away from Richard and the Larsen family.  A few years later they have both moved on and living their separate lives (well Richard has Hanna lives with the regret that she walked away from the only man she loves)
"Even if they never saw each other again----and with her stupidity and faux pas it was a distinct possibility ----She wanted to offer him the one thing she had left. Her regret."

They re-connect and re-builds their friendship. When Hanna is relocated to New York for work for a few months. even with the years that passed that bond is still their just simmering beneath the surface. When it becomes evident that the feelings they have for each other can no longer be ignore Richard decides to break off his engagement but before he can deliver the news to his fiancée tragedy strikes pushing them apart. someone who does not want to see them together uses this opportunity to drive a wedge between them severing their bond not know that a greater life long one was to take its place.
After discovering she is pregnant and learning some unsettling news about Richards situation she flees once more leaving Richard and his family heartbroken and confused.

Over all love their journey and ending. well written and lovely.

Richard couldn’t decide where to put his hands. Her waist seemed too familiar, too sexual. If he held on to her hips and felt her ass against him, he was pretty sure he would lose his mind. He settled on the relative safety of her upper arms, trying to keep the fabric of her t-shirt between his hands and her skin. But she was moving too much, grinding her body to the beat of the music. He took a half step backwards, removing his crotch from the danger zone. He didn’t want to be accused of liking the band that much.
Hanna turned her head and tried to shout something to him. The noise of the band, and the calls of the crowd, drowned her words out.
“What?” Two small lines formed between his eyebrows as he tried to concentrate on her mouth.
“I said this is my favorite song.”
“What’s it called?” They were still mouthing words at each other. To try and actually vocalize would have been futile.
Last Nite.” She whipped her head around as the guitarists played the instrumental bridge, the discordant sound of the bassist’s chords jarring against the melodic notes of the lead guitar. The lead singer opened his mouth, his voice a deep echo as his lips moved closely against the microphone, his eyes closed as he sang the words.
The crowd was going absolutely wild, the fast tempo of the track leading them to jump up and down as one. Those unfortunate enough not to join in were starting to panic, feeling themselves being dragged under. Richard moved his arms until they were tightly clutching Hanna’s waist. He didn’t care about his reaction to her body, he just wanted to keep her safe.
Leaning back into him, her hands clutched his arms as they moved together, submitting themselves to the will of the crowd.
It was electrifying.
