BLOG TOUR STOP~ARE YOU MINE? N.K. Smith

Synopsis:

Human connection? Who needs it?

Ever since she can remember, wealthy but weary Saige Armstrong has felt different from her peers in Pechimu, New Jersey. With only one good friend to her name, she has navigated the complicated halls of high school and is now faced with the timeless question: Now what?

Fox Harrington, a fun-loving, socially charismatic graffiti artist uses his passions to color his world how he wants it. He knows exactly where his life is headed. That is, until he meets Saige.

A summer project links the two together, making a tentative friendship bloom into romance, but despite their affection for each other, fundamental beliefs and ways of thinking threaten to destroy all they have built.

"These moments in life are the best there are. They’re heavy with emotion, messy with the what-ifs, and frightening with the unknowns."

REVIEW

There are books out created just because then there are book written because a story NEEDS to be told, Are You mine? Is one of them.
I love this book the story is one that touched me true and reached deep.
Saige (love the name) just graduated high school and is in no hurry to make any decisions about her future. Life has been cruel to her she became an orphan at the  age of 11 after losing her father and her mother at age 5. Pain hurt and anger is all she knows so she shuts every one out to protect herself from anymore pain and disappointment. She only has two friends and one is by default. She is abrasive, rude and keeps everyone at arms length drowning in her own meisery.
Fox (love the name again) his life is also not perfect he has as to withness and deal with things no child/ young adult should do but those were the cards he was delth so he deals with it the best way he can. When others look at him all they see is a care free happy go luck guy no one knows that from the age of 6 his mum was committed to a menth health hospital. Unlike Saige he I a Social butter fly the life of every party and naturally good natured.
He is attracted to the recluse that is Siage everyone thinks she is a bitch but he sees something else in her that just draws him in.
Saige on the Orr hand does not see things quite that way.
I love they way there relationship develop it was not instant but something that developed and deepened over time. At first she judge him for only finishing high school at 20
"You don't know me, and you shouldn't judge assume I'm stupid because my academic record isn't perfect."~Fox
Fox has a learning disability and I I've how that was portrayed very true to the condition.
"She seems all meek and mild, but when she wants to, she gets fiery. She can be a little snotty but I kind of like it."~Fox
I swear Fox is so sweet and loveable you won't be able to stop yourself from completely adoring him. He takes so much shit from Saige I wanted him to walk away from her a few times for the way she tried to push him easy after he gets her like no one else.
"I don't know why he picks it, but Califirnia is my dream place, so instantly I feel like he's reached inside my head and plucked out something special."~Saige
He makes her a better person and despite her shot comings he is happy with her like really happy planning the future which she dreads.

This books has a lot of layers of different issues and N.K. Smith is not afraid to go to the heart of those issues and show them as that are in real life.
I love that we got to see a little bit of Jousha Fox's dad and how he deals with his wife mental health. His love for her just amazes me.
I would have given this book a 5star but it dragged in a few places and by the end I really did not care if they had a HEA.
The story is well written te emotions just flows off the pages you can image the pain they both suffered. I look forward to reading more from Ms Smith she is talented and writes stuff that really matters and hit deep. Her words has purpose and intent and beautifully put together.
At at end I might not have cared for a HEA but I would have liked an Eiopligy.
