REVIEW
This book is a Sci Fi lovers dream it had everything. I love the characters they are all very well written and realistic, the story is set in modern day so that helps with the overall believability.
The start of the story is a little slow for me but once it picked up I couldn't put it down. Action filled the pages with romance intertwined with genetic mutations.
I love the chemistry between Sam and Erik.

“What is this? Why am I here?” I asked, still feeling like I was half asleep.
More footsteps entered the room. “I think she’s slept most of it off,” I heard Erik say to whoever walked in.
I felt Erik’s other hand on my arm and then felt a prick from a needle. Soon I could feel the grogginess go away and the strength in my muscles return. I opened my eyes and could see normally.
Erik was sitting at my side, still holding my hand. “Ready to get up now?” His smile was so warm and kind that the anger I had prepared to unleash on him was quickly disarmed.
Jack stood behind him, arms crossed, studying my every move.
“Amazing,” he said. “But I can’t quite understand it.”
Erik shot him a glance of annoyance.
“Um, yes. Well, let’s get started then, shall we?” Jack said, sitting on a chair at the end of my bed.
Erik sighed, disappointed in how the old man was handling things. He turned back to me. “I know it may not seem like it, but we’re actually trying to help you.”
I gave him the look that I had heard that line before.
“Sure. You don’t believe me,” he continued. “I wouldn’t believe me either. Someone drugs me and I wake up in some strange place, I’d be pretty pissed.” He flashed a slight smile. “But here’s the deal. We have a lot of stuff to tell you and we’d like you to tell us some stuff, too.” He paused, sensing my hesitation. “If, and only if, you want to. Okay?” He waited for me to shake my head yes.
“I’ll start with the basics.” Erik let go of my hand and sat in the chair next to my bed. “I don’t know if you noticed, but I’m a little like you.” I glanced over at him, unsure of what he was trying to tell me. “You see what I mean? Not everyone can do this.”
I looked at him confused. Not do what? I thought. This guy is cute but not at all good at explaining things in clear and simple terms.
“So you think I’m cute, huh?” I looked up to see him smiling. “And by the way, I think my explanation is very clear. You just need to pay attention.”
“I AM paying attention!” I said loudly. And then it hit me. My voice had filled what had been a silent room. Nobody had spoken for at least a minute. Erik hadn’t said anything. And yet we were having a conversation. A two-way conversation—without spoken words. He could read thoughts! That’s why he said we were alike.

“And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for,” Drew announced. “The arrival of our stars for the evening. Prototypes of the future. May I introduce for the very first time, Samantha and Erik. The golden couple.”
The golden couple? I glanced at Erik, who seemed just as confused. Rachel pushed Erik toward me, reminding him to take my arm as we walked out onto a small stage that had been set up. Bright lights shined down on us and people stood up and clapped. I peered through the light to see the room of onlookers. There were people of all nationalities. I could hear different languages and accents in the crowd.
“They are simply amazing,” I heard one woman say.
“What a gorgeous couple,” another woman said.
I noticed two ladies near the stage staring up at us. “Oh, can you imagine?” the one lady said to her friend.
“They’ll be even more gorgeous. And perfect in every way,” her friend responded.
I looked back to see a large banner hanging behind us. On it were the words “Celebrate The Golden Couple” along with the Greek letter phi. Just like the one on the necklace Allie gave me.
“Samantha, turn around,” Drew scolded as he smiled at the crowd.
The clapping got louder as everyone stood up. The room gradually quieted. Drew went to the microphone again. “Thank you. I can see you’re all as excited as I am about these two. And I encourage you to express your enthusiasm for the project by continuing to invest in the research that will bring this technology to life in all of us.” He gave them a huge salesman grin. Then he came over next to us and said loudly and forcefully, “This is the future, my friends! Let us celebrate it!”

Wow hands down a 5 star this book just brought all the previous two books together the science was kept simple and the whole story unfolded. The twist and turns just kept on coming. The growth of all the characters is very evident. Sam and Erik's ability had also developed. this is my fav of all the three books.
Overall great trilogy highly recommend
EXCERPT
I went upstairs to get a drink. As I was getting a glass from the cupboard, I felt really dizzy. I filled the glass with water and sat down at the table. The dizzy feeling suddenly turned to one of panic. It came out of nowhere. I got up and looked outside. Nobody was around. I sat back down and drank the water, trying to ignore the feeling. But it continued to nag at me, getting stronger as the minutes went by.
My body became restless. I started pacing the floor. I felt like I needed to do something, but I wasn’t sure what. Why was I feeling this way? There was no reason to panic. We were all safe. We were all together. I stopped pacing when I remembered that we weren’t all together. Colin was back at the house. Alone. But what could possibly be wrong? Was he hurt? Did he injure himself during his workout? I tried not to imagine more sinister possibilities, but my mind went there anyway.
I had to get to Colin. And I had to go alone. If someone from GlobalLife was at the house, we would all be in danger. I knew it was stupid not to tell anyone about my suspicions, but I refused to risk letting GlobalLife hurt or kill any more of my loved ones.
I tried to act normal as I went into the dining room, where Dave and Abigail were talking.
“Sorry to bother you, but could I have the car keys, Uncle Dave?”
“Yes. But why do you need them?”
“Jack needs them. He forgot something at the house. I think I’ll go with him to see if Colin wants to come back and hang out here.”
Dave seemed confused. “What does Jack need at the house?”
“I don’t know. He didn’t say. Can I get the keys? He’s waiting.”
“Sure.” He stood up and pulled the keys from his pocket. “Here you go.”
“Thanks.” I took the keys. Dave was already focused back on Abigail.
I raced out to the car and drove away, hoping nobody would hear the engine. Once I got on the main road, I sped up, feeling even more anxious. When I reached the house, I scanned the perimeter but saw nothing. I slowly unlocked the door and went inside. It was dark out now; there were lights on in the living room but not the side bedrooms.
“Colin? Colin are you in here?”
There was no answer. I quickly walked to each bedroom. He wasn’t in any of them. I went to the kitchen. It was dark and empty. I stood at the top of the basement steps.
“Colin? Are you down there?” There was no answer and it was pitch-black. I turned on the light and went downstairs, searching every room. “Colin, where are you?” I shuddered, knowing that something was definitely wrong. I ran back up the stairs.
Then I heard a ringing sound. I followed the sound to Colin’s bedroom. The ringing was coming from the secure cell phone that Colin had used with Emily.
The phone continued to ring, but I wasn’t sure if I should answer it. Who had that number? Just us and a few people from the rebel group. Maybe it was a wrong number. Or maybe it was Colin calling. I raced over and grabbed the phone.
“Colin? Is that you?”
“Finally, Samantha. You should really answer on the second or third ring. It’s not good manners to make someone wait.”
I recognized the voice, but couldn’t place who it belonged to.
“Who is this? How did you get this number?”
“Again, your manners are atrocious. Questioning your caller like that. And in such a demanding tone. Your generation could really use a course in basic etiquette.”
Suddenly I knew who it was.
