REVIEW
Scorned is simply an intoxicating book! Let me start by saying, straight from the beginning I wanted to slap the crap out of Lindsey!!
"Love led my father to his demise. Love made me ache for my mother's non-existent emotion towards us, her family. Love ruined me for the male species."
Lindsey has believed from such a young age that she was damaged goods and did not deserve love that was not tainted.
"So much had happened. My love for him was tainted. He betrayed that love years ago, knowing quite well what it would do to me."
She believes it so much that when she starts to question where her loves lies, she tries to force herself to remember what she believes is true.
"I love Brody," I whispered into the quiet house, making sure I didn't forget it."
What everyone else didn't know was that she had a husband that loved her very much who she wanted a divorce from.
"Damn you! You know well enough that it was far from over, Lindsey! I fucking loved you! I married you for crying out loud!
Because of how much Dimitris loved Lindsey he was willing to give her up so she could be happy. Well unfortunate for Lindsey his Grandfather did not feel the same and halted the divorce proceedings.
"I don't know. He tells me that he wants to talk to you and that you need to convince him that our divorce is the only answer."
Dimitris tries to fight his love for Lindsey. He gets a new girlfriend and makes changes to his daily life in order to rid himself of her memory.
"Why would you have a villa then, if you still have your home? He looked like he was thinking about my question. It took him a minute to reply," Because I don't go there any longer. Out with the old, in with the new; isn't that how the saying goes?"
Since he has no choice, but to be around Lindsey, he tries to push her away. He tries to say anything he can to get her to hate him and remind him of the hurt she has and is still causing him.
"I will as long as you're not in it because, if you are, it wouldn't be a dream. I would call it a nightmare," he gritted out, eyes flashing icily at me."
Lindsey has her work cut out for her if she thought it would be easy to convince Dimitris's grandfather. He and the others in Dimitris family can see his love for her. They all only hope they can help persuade her not to leave him again.
"You are a Kosta, thus making you part of the family, even if you won't be for long. You never know, maybe in the next six days you will change your mind. Dimitris is a handsome man, passionate, and looks at you with love in his eyes. What could be better than that?" ~ His granfather
"Tonight, I see that smile. For months, I longed to see it. My son is happy and very much the old Dimitris everyone knew and loved. Don't take that away from him. Please it's cruel if you leave him again." ~ His mother
Eventually Dimitris gets so swept up in it all that he decides he isn't ready to let go of Lindsey just yet. Even if he only gets her for the week she is in Greece.
Soon that is not even enough for him and he begs her not to leave him again.
"Stay. Give me a chance, you never gave me one. Let me prove my worth to you. Just stay... not as my wife or my girlfriend, but as the woman I love."
He paused, breathing raggedly before he parted from my ear and looked into my eyes with gripping sadness, anguished. "I just want you, Lindsey. Be with me."
When Lindsey finally returns home, she decides to move on. Will she be able to, or will she finally realize everything she has given up? What happens when it seems it is just too late? They must both give each other up in order to truly gain.
Wow! I was taken away with this book. It left me bawling like a baby. My kids kept asking if mommy was alright. The book is well written and easy to read. It was mainly told by Lindsey, but a few areas involved Dimitris telling the story. This book will keep you up all night, never wanting to put it down. It is definitely highly recommended by me! I still cannot get enough!!
